The life of Hilmar Leon Jakobsen has changed a lot in 2020. The Torshavn player started the year playing for the handball team and ended it as a Faroese football international.
'AS' recalls his story, which started in 2020 with the handball team, but had to stop because of COVID-19, and finally resumed his football career, which he left because of injuries.
It normally happens in school ages, boys and girls combine team sports, but it isn't usual at all to do it in professional categories like Jakobsen has done.
With the break, Jakobsen signed for the Torshavn B team. His good performances led him to the first team and from there the call up to the Faroe Islands national team after scoring 12 goals in 17 matches.
