French referee Stephanie Frappart will make history again on Tuesday in the Mexico-Poland match as the first woman to referee in a men's World Cup match.
Frappart will be the fourth official in the meeting. Chris Beath will be in the middle for this one and his compatriots Anton Schchetinin and Ashley Beecham the VARs.
The French referee, who was born in Le Plesis-Bouchard, will once again be the first to take part and make history in the first men's World Cup to include female referees and assistants.
She was the first woman to referee in Ligue 2 and Ligue 1. In 2019 she was appointed to referee the UEFA Super Cup final between Liverpool and Chelsea. In December 2020 she also became the first woman to referee Juventus-Dinamo Kiev in the Champions League.
