Frankfurt not willing to sell Marmoush to Man City for less than €80m

We are almost halfway through the month of January and Manchester City have moved less than might have been expected given the needs that Pep Guardiola himself highlighted just a few weeks ago, especially in the slump that the team went through. Now that the team has stabilised, the plan is to strengthen the squad in the winter window. Omar Marmoush has been chosen for the attack.

The Eintracht Frankfurt striker has become one of the great goalscoring references in the Bundesliga and fits into Guardiola's scheme, who sees how the Egyptian is capable of adapting to many attacking profiles. He has the ability to be that complement in front of goal that, for example, Julian Alvarez was. But Eintracht will not make it easy.

It seemed that the deal could be worth around 60 million euros. As the days go by, the figure increases. The German newspaper ‘BILD’ claims that the sporting director of the club that now owns the rights to Marmoush, Markus Krosche, will not accept less than 80 million euros. He already faced similar operations with Kolo Mouani or Jovic in the past and got a lot of money for both of them.

The aforementioned German media also states that contacts between City and Eintracht were opened last weekend, but that a formal offer from the Sky Blues has not been made yet, which will not be long in coming. The English side see it from their point of view: it would be paying more than what they paid for Erling Haaland.

Evidently, now they are much more in need and their rivals know it and are taking advantage of it. At the time, the Cityzens paid 60 million euros to acquire the services of the Nordic striker from Borussia Dortmund. Should Eintracht's price for Marmoush be accepted, the sum would be 20 million euros more. In fact, the Egyptian striker would become the third most expensive signing in the club's history ahead of Kevin de Bruyne (76) and behind only Josko Gvardiol (90) and Jack Grealish (117).
