Former United's Tuanzebe almost lost thumb while washing up

Former Man United defender Axel Tuanzebe needed surgical treatment on his hand after sustaining a serious injury at home while washing up. According to the 'Daily Mail', the Ipswich player risked losing his thumb while doing the dishes, as a piece from a glass he washing up lacerated his skin. But thanks to a successful surgery, the 26-year-old was able to save his thumb. 

Tuanzebe started every Premier League match for Ipswich Town this season, however, he had to miss the latest against West Ham on Saturday game following the hand injury. The newly-promoted side's boss McKenna spoke on the defender after the game at the London Stadium. “He's done a hand injury, a very unfortunate accident,” he said on Saturday. “He's had surgery and will be out for a while. It's not going to be a couple of weeks, probably longer. There are still discussions with the specialists".

As of now, the extent of Tuanzebe's injury is yet to be confirmed, but Ipswich are unlikely to have him back for the clash against Everton. The two sides will face on the 19th of October as they battle to stay out of the relegation zone. McKenna’s side are yet to pick up three points in the league and Tuanzebe's absence will make it even harder to do so, according to the head coach.

“He's naturally a miss with the way he's started the season. He's going to be out for a little while. We're going to have to adjust and regroup as a team," he admitted. Tuanzebe joined Ipswich Town last year after a stint on loan from Man United with Stoke City. The Red Devil youth product has now settled at Ipswich after a rocky time at Old Trafford and will hope to recover quickly from his injury to not lose momentum.
