Alessandro Florenzi's season is at risk after AC Milan announced this Tuesday that the Italian will soon be going under the knife as his knee needs operating on.
The Serie A league leaders said that Florenzi will undergo surgery in Rome this Wednesday in order to repair meniscus damage in his left knee. He suffered this during the goalless draw with Bologna on Monday night.
This draw leaves Milan just one point ahead of Napoli at the top of the league. Their city rivals and reigning champions, Inter, are just four points behind with a game in hand.
Florenzi, aged 31, joined Milan on loan from Roma in August 2021 and since his arrival, he has played in 27 matches for the seven time champions of Europe in all competitions. He has scored one goal across these appearances.
The knee operation will be Florenzi's second of this campaign. He underwent almost identical surgery in October, which saw him sidelined for a month.
