Hundreds of fans crowded outside the stadium to celebrate the pre-match celebrations and wait for the teams, who were just minutes away from arriving at the Etihad Stadium.
Suddenly, a food truck burst into flames. The rapid response of the emergency services meant that the small fire was extinguished.
The fans who were in the surroundings of the fire were quickly evacuated by the security services to avoid any further damage. What is certain is that they had a scare.
Manchester City released statement after fire breaks out at Etihad Stadium and fans evacuated: "Manchester City FC can confirm that there has been a fire in one of the outside merchandise kiosks, located near the entrance to the Colin Bell West Stand. Emergency services are present at the scene and the fire has now been extinguished. The safety of all attending the match tonight is our top priority, and as such all events planned for West Stand reception have been cancelled, including the welcome event for new players, and the first team arrival."
