FIFA have decided to punish Independiente with a three market transfer ban after failing to pay Defensor Sporting for the transfer of Carlos Benvídez. The Argentian side have appealed to CAS.

Despite all the good news that Independiente fans got before the start of the season, that happiness didn't last long.

According to 'Olé', FIFA have punished Independiente over the signing of Carlos Benavídez from Defensor Sporting.

FIFA said that Avellaneda failed to pay the Uruguayan team for the transfer and handed them a three-window ban as a result.

Despite this, the punishment won't come in straight away and Independiente have already appealed to CAS.
