Sevilla and Galatasaray had planned to do a straight swap involving Fernando and Roque Mesa, but that fell through after Roque Mesa decided to study other offers so Sevilla decided to sign the player via a conventional transfer, sources have told EFE.
Sevilla and Fernando's agent, Jorge Mendes, have now agreement the terms of the contract which will bind them for the next two seasons with the option of a third depending on his performances.
He will probably become Sevilla's eighth signing of the summer. He is close to turning 32 and he has spent almost all of his career at two European clubs: Porto, who he made 236 appearances for, and Manchester City for whom he played more than 100 times.
