Spanish footballer Cesc Fabregas announced on Friday that he will leave Monaco at the end of this season. He is upset at his long injury lay off, but he says he wants to continue his career.
"It's certain that I've finished at Monaco. My contract expires in June and I'm looking for a new starting point," Fabregas said in an interview with French media outlet 'Sofoot.com'.
Fabregas, 35, and who joined the club in 2019, says that he has received several phone calls from some of his old coaches "to know what I'm going to do, to see whether I wanted to join them this summer" at the club.
"But this year has been so bad that I can't finish it in this manner, not after having built this career. I want to keep on playing," the footballer said. Fabregas, after 19 years and almost 900 matches in the elite, has won "practically everything."
The World Cup winner and winner of two European Championships with Spain as well as all possible titles at Barca did not give any clues on where he could continue his career. "It's simply just finding a good project and making it a reality," he explained.
The aim is to put this season behind him. "I've suffered a lot this year and it's been tough mentally. You need to keep strong," he described.
