Liverpool midfielder Fabinho has been left out of the club's travelling squad, as they head to Germany for a pre-season training camp. This comes after a £40 million bid was received from Saudi Arabian club, Al-Ittihad for the Brazilian.
'The Guardian' report that the bid prompted discussions at Anfield, and a decision was taken in consultation with Fabinho, withdrawing him from the group which flies out on Saturday.
Should the 30-year-old decide to leave, Liverpool will need to consider a replacement to join new signings Alexis MacAllister and Dominik Szobszlai in the midfield.
One option being considered is Southampton's Romeo Lavia, and although the Reds believe the 19-year-old to be overpriced at £50 million, he would be cheaper and likely more straightfoward to sign than, say, Brighton's Moises Caicedo, who would be double the price and is close to joining Chelsea instead.
A move to Al-Ittihad would see Fabinho play with former Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, and N'Golo Kante, who made the move from Chelsea.
