French football is in mourning. AS Furiani player, Jordan Diakiese, has passed away at the age of 24, according to the French club. He was part of the PSG youth system.

AS Furiani player, Jordan Diakiese, passed away at the age of 24 in Paris on Thursday. French football is in mourning after the death of the young footballer, who came from the PSG youth system.

"It was with immense and deep sadness that we learned of the death of our 24-year-old player Jordan Diakiese. He arrived last July and this endearing boy quickly won unanimous approval, both on and off the field", the club wrote in a statement.

"Always smiling and quite discreet and hardworking, Jordan had been able to integrate very quickly on his arrival. The coaching staff and his teammates are very affected", they added.

Diakiese was in the PSG youth system until 2017, the year in which he left for Chaux-de-Fonds. After playing in Switzerland, he had a spell in Croatia with NK Rudes and then ended up at AS Furiani.

Everyone in French football is in mourning for a player who shared a generation with the likes of Thomas Lemar and Kimpembe, among others.
