Ex-City man bids farewell to rest of season

Ex-Man City midfielder David Silva is suffering a calf injury and can consider his 2022-23 season over. Current side Real Sociedad would have needed him too, as next season's qualification for the Champions League is up for grabs.

The Spanish side confirmed, with a statement, that the man from the Canary Islands was suffering from the injury. He had to leave the pitch in the first half against Almeria on Tuesday, and at first it was feared it would be something more sinister.

The club's medics haven't put a time span on how long he'll be out for, with it depending on "the injury's characteristics and how the symptoms develop".

Any type of role in this Sunday's game against Atletico Madrid are practically impossible, and it's thought it would be similar for the last game of the season against Sevilla on the 4th June.
