Benatia has called a halt to his playing career with Morocco. The 32-year-old announced on 'beIN Sports' that he will no longer be playing for them.
"I spoke with Vahid (the manager). He told me that he counted on me. It made me happy, of course. But I decided to put an end to my international career. It's no an easy decision", he said.
He played for Juventus until the summer when he left after having played 66 games, scoring two goals and getting 1 assist. He has also played in 4 African Cup of Nations and a World Cup.
He made his debut in 2008 and played his last game for Morocco in May against Ivory Coast in the African Cup of Nations group stages. He watched from the bench as they lost on penalties against Benin in the last 16.
Benatia has also played for Italian teams Roma and Udinese in the Serie A, and the all-powerful Bayern Munich.
