It was Inter Milan who emerged victorious in today’s International Champions Cup tie thanks to two first half goals from striker Eder.
Inter started well with Eder almost finding himself one-on-one after just 1 minute, but he was denied by the offside flag.
Franck Ribery had the first real effort on goal after 6 minutes when he cut in from the left and tested Handanovic but the goalkeeper was able to parry the ball behind away to his right.
Inter took the lead after just nine minutes and the goal was an incredibly simple one, D’Ambrosio and Candreva combined down the right before the latter fired a cross into the middle, Gotze was caught ball watching and Eder nipped in ahead of him to plant a header into the top corner.
Bayern then engaged in a spell of pressure without really creating a clear-cut chance. Coman headed well over at the back post at full stretch and Tolisso saw an optimistic effort roll well wide.
Rafinha tried to repeat his goalscoring heroics against Chelsea with a low effort from range but Handanovic gathered with ease.
Hummels had to be alert to stop Joao Mario from sending Eder through on goal, but the striker was only kept quiet briefly.
Juve doubled their lead on the half hour mark, Nagatomo slipped Perisic in behind Rafinha and the former Borussia Dortmund man’s cross was perfect for the onrushing and unmarked Eder to plant a low header past Ulreich for his second of the game.
Bayern then lost veteran winger Franck Ribery to injury, with the Frenchman being replaced by Milos Pantovic.
Handanovic had to be alert to tip away a teasing free kick from James with players lurking at the far post.
Despite a spell of pressure from Bayern it was Inter who had had the last real chance before half-time, the Italian side countered well with Joao Mario scampering away down the right, he delayed his cross but eventually found Eder at the far post only for Gotze to hack his effort away from in front of Ulreich.
Bayern went into the break having made more passes, having had more possession and having had more shots than their opponents but found themselves two goals behind.
The Germans made a raft of changes at half-time as they looked for a way back into the game.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side created the first chance of the second half as a low cross from the right found its way to Coman, his effort was blocked but the ball rebounded to Lewandowski who volleyed over.
Inter were the next to threaten as Joao Mario tried his luck with a cheeky quickly-taken free kick, it had Ulreich worried but in the end the effort dropped just wide.
Friedl wasted a good chance for Bayern when he fired well over form the edge of the box after gathering Alaba’s cross from the left.
At this point the game became more and more fragmented as substitutions became more and more regular.
Renato Sanches suffered a real Jekyll and Hyde moment after 70 minutes, first he sloppily gave away possession and in doing so almost set Gabriel Barbosa free, but just minutes later he almost got Bayern back into the game with a powerful effort from range which flew just wide.
Bayern were so poor in front of goal that arguably their best effort came from Inter defender Miranda. After 80 minutes Thomas Muller got in down the right and pulled the ball back and the Inter centre-back contrived to fire the ball goal wards as he looked to clear but Inter keeper Samir Handanovic got up well to save his team-mate’s bacon.
Inter had a chance to extend their lead in the very last minute as Brozovic rose highest to meet Biabian's cross from the right but he could only head over from eight yards.
A good performance from Luciano Spalletti's men, but plenty for Carlo Ancelotti to ponder ahead of the new season.
