The Ukrainian Artem Biesiedin, Dynamo Kiev forward, has been banned for a year after testing positive in a doping control carried out after the match against Malmö in the Europa League group stages which was played on 28th November.
According to UEFA, Biesiedin tested positive for Fonturacetam, a stimulant which is one of those banned by the World Anti-doping Agency (AMA), as revealed in the analysis carried out by a laboratory accredited by this body.
The UEFA Appeals Committee, after a hearing and consideration of the case, agreed to suspend Biesiedin for one year. The period begins on the day the Control and Disciplinary Body decided to provisionally suspend him on 19th December 2019 and ends on 19th December 2020.
UEFA specifies that this decision is final. Malmö won that match 4-3 in which Biesiedin started. They finished top of Group B, while Dynamo Kiev finished third and were therefore eliminated.
