Dubravka paradox: he'll be champion if his side loses in EFL Cup final

Martin Dubravka's situation is not something you see everyday. In fact, it's a very strange and paradoxical tale. The Newcastle keeper will be going through a more than special EFL Cup final against Manchester United. And that's without even being able to play.
The 34 year old goalkeeper won't be able to play a part for the Magpies in what will be a historic match, as his side are back in a final after 24 years of not tasting success like it. The reason why is because he is cup-tied.
Interestingly, Dubravka played the tournament with Manchester United, where he was on loan from Newcastle until last January. He played the games against Aston Villa in the round of 32, and against Burnley in the last-16, after which he returned to St James' Park.
But the paradox doesn't end there. If Newcastle beat the Red Devils and win the EFL Cup, Dubravka won't be named a winner. The keeper will only be proclaimed champion if his current side Newcastle are beaten by United.
