Drogba reveals plans to retire in 2018

Didier Drogba's playing days will soon be over. At 39 years old, the striker's career is nearing its end at one of the clubs in the third tier of North American football. Drogba's contract with Phoenix Rising ends in 2018, and he has decided that that will be the perfect time to hang up his boots.

"I think next year will be my last season. At some point you have to call it a day," the Chelsea legend told 'RMC Sport'.

At the moment, Drogba continues to play with the same goalscoring instinct as ever. The Ivorian already has nine goals and three assists in the 14 matches he has played so far in the current season.

When Drogba finally calls time on his playing career, the striker will end with 14 titles from Chelsea under his belt and three from Galatasaray, as well as an endless number individual awards and accolades. Football, without a doubt, will lose one of the game's most loved players... but not until 2018.
