Douglas Costa, facing the last game of the Brazilian League season, asked Gremio to be released for the game so that he could celebrate a party for his wedding to Nathalia Feix. Their marriage took place in June, in the Dominican Republic, and, as Anselmo Gois of 'O Globo' explains, it has had to be postponed.
The footballer, by the looks of his social networks, is quite angry that the board, as expected, has rejected his request. It is easy to discern his displeasure in that he has deleted all his photographs in the team's shirt and even removed the badges from his profiles designating him as part of the squad. In other words, he has removed any phrase that said "Gremio player" or similar.
The key clash in particular is the clash with Atletico Mineiro, where the side start with 40 points in 18th place. Without relying on themselves, the team must take all three points and hope that direct rivals Bahia and Juventude lose. Losing the category would be a huge blow to their project.
The unrest between Douglas Costa and Gremio could have consequences in January, when the transfer window opens. It remains to be seen whether the relationship between the two sides has eroded to such an extent that a hypothetical loan move back to Juventus could be on the table.
