Many before this game thought that this affair could be an attritional one, but it turned out to be anything but
The game got off to an excellent start, when Andre gray marked his return to Turf Moor after leaving Burnley last summer with an excellent goal, where he combined well with Troy Deeney before volleying home accurately past Joe Hart.
A matter of minutes later, Burnley replied when James Tarkowski headed home from a corner after some good movement in the box to get back on level terms.
Burnley went on to play impressively in the remainder of the first 45 minutes, with the 'Clarets' getting particular joy from the wing areas and Aaron Lennon and Matthew Lowton's probing balls in to the box.
Javi Gracia made changes to his team at the break tactically to improve at the back, but it was at the other end of the pitch where the 'Hornets' impressed.
Three minutes after the break Troy Deeney picked up the ball and had a shot blocked at the edge of the area, with the ball falling to Abdoulaye Doucouré who slid the ball in impressively back to Deeney, who finished well.
On the 51st minute mark, Matthew Lowton who had been one of the best players on the pitch in the first period, played a poor ball across the pitch which fell to Will Hughes. The midfielder dribbled towards goal and rocketed the ball in to the Burnley net.
The match then saw Watford control possession very well as the game progessed, and despite Sean Dyche switching up his tactics to go more direct, Burnley were unable to get back in to the game.
The home team will now inevitably face questions about how they are coping with their European commitments after theuy faded so dramatically in the second half, whereas Javi Gracia is flying high after picking up 6 points from a possible 6.
