Angel Di Maria is one of many Argentinians to come in for criticism so far during the World Cup, but he went a long way to making amends when he rifled the 'Albiceleste' level against France on Saturday.

With Jorge Sampaoli's side trailing to Antoine Griezmann's penalty and looking decidely shaky on the counter, they were in need of some serious inspiration to get back into the game.

Step forward Di Maria. Just four minutes before the break the PSG man found a spectacular leveller to bring his side back into the reckoning.

Gethering the ball 30 yards out, there only ever appeared to be one thing in his mind as he left fly with a fierce left-footed effort.
