The 'Valbuena case' led to Benzema falling out with the French Football Federation. Now, in a preview of his article in 'Universal Valdano', the striker speaks out.
"Everyone wants to play for their country, but I have a problem when it comes to contacting the coach", explained the Real Madrid player about Didier Deschamps.
Benzema said that "He never even called me. I think that it's a problem from up top", he said, referencing the leadership of the French FA.
It isn't the first time that Benzema has fallen out with Deschamps. The striker posted on his social media that read: "Where others hate, I smile".
Benzema has been left out of the French team since 2015, when he became embroiled in 'the Valbuena scandal' during which he was accused of extortion, using a video he had taken of his teammate.
Since then, and despite him being one of the country's best strikers, the French FA haven't called on Karim Benzema, who still wants to return to 'Les Bleus'.
