The news coming from Barcelona remains focused on a transfer window that looks set to be quite an eventful one. Apart from the transfer targets of Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha in attack, Barca are also hoping to resolve the issue of whether Dembele will extend his stay at the club, or leave.
The French winger is not officially a Barca player and is a free agent after his contract expired on the 30th June. However, he can still sign an extension and remain at the Camp Nou. There have been numerous meetings and negotiations between the player and the club.
Originally, everything seemed to suggest that the relationship was broken between the two and that the Frenchman would leave to join PSG. Barcelona's interest in Raphinha made one of the competitors for the Brazilian, Chelsea, the favorites to land the former Borussia Dortmund player.
Nevertheless, it seems that the winger could stay at the Catalan club. This Saturday, Joan Laporta spoke about transfers and mentioned Dembele's name, who he has not shut the door to: "If he accepts our economic conditions, he will stay. We do not have a time limit".
After this, 'El partizado de COPE' revealed that both Barca and the player were progressing in the right direction to keep Dembele at the club. Within the club, they are optimistic in the deal and hope to reach an agreement with the Frenchman to keep him with 'loc cules'.
The winger already knows that he will have to accept a 40% wage cut, which will put him at the same level as Ansu Fati. If Raphinha eventually joins, Barcelona could have excellent options on the right wing with two big players.
