Manchester United are still working at full speed to close Paul Pogba's contract renewal as soon as possible, as the French midfielder's current deal expires on 30 June 2022. United manager Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer himself revealed just a day ago that the player's agent is still negotiating with the club's agents over a contract extension for the 28-year-old.
But in the last few hours a new problem has emerged. According to 'The Athletic', Old Trafford bosses now regret the deal they struck with goalkeeper David de Gea a couple of years ago. At that time, United and De Gea agreed a salary for the Spanish international goalkeeper of 87.7 million euros. The Red Devils agreed to the goalkeeper's demands, who became the highest paid player in the Premier League.
An agreement that caused a huge salary inequality in the United squad and that could lead other players to try to follow the same path. According to the aforementioned media outlet, United now fear that through Mino Raiola, Pogba's agent, the Frenchman will ask for similar conditions to remain with the Red Devils.
