The City duo came to blows as they left the field at half-time, after De Bruyne had gone over to the fourth official to try and talk to him.
The Belgian midfielder wanted to complain to the official about the referee's decision to award Napoli a first-half penalty, which Ederson then saved from Dries Mertens.
But footage caught by 'BT Sport' shows captain David Silva trying to prevent his team-mate from venting his anger, because he had been booked for dissent just minute's earlier, and De Bruyne didn't take too kindly to his skipper's intervention.
However, speaking after the game, the 26-year-old said the incident was nothing to worry about.
"We just had a little discussion. A minute later, that's forgotten. (Laughs) I have those (discussions) sometimes with my wife too. You too, I suppose.
"Sometimes it's needed. Not everything is always positive. But this was something small. I wanted to ask something (to the fourth official), but I wasn't allowed to.
"But as I said. It's nothing to make a big deal out of it. It happens sometimes. Some people often say or see that I'm frustrated, but that wasn't the case. I was just a bit annoyed.
"And for a minute I lost myself. One minute and it's done. And I don't mind. At the highest level a discussion can be good sometimes. To get everyone at their toes again."
City fans will be hoping this argument between their two most creative players soon fizzles out.
