Daniel James was not a part of Jose Mourinho's squad a year ago, but the Reds winger got up, close and personal with the Portuguese manager on Wednesday night.
Mourinho, making his first return since being sacked by United, was stood on the touchline motivating his Tottenham players when James, fouled by Harry Winks, stumbled towards the technical areas and got a painful-looking hit to the head.
The Welshman was unable to halt his momentum as he fell at the feet of Mourinho, clattering into his knee and then falling down the ramp that leads up to the Old Trafford pitch.
Both the manager and the player were in visible pain, but the Manchester United winger seems to have gotten the worst of the blow as he required medical assitance.
