VAR acted fairly quickly at San Mames to confirm Valencia's goal was not offside. Valencia's counter was perfect, but Maxi Gomez could have been slightly offside.
The Uruguayan received the ball and served it into space for Ferran to assist Cheryshev. However, on TV they showed an unofficial offside line which caused the confusion.
On the broadcast feed, the Valencia striker's foot seemed to be slightly offside. However, the line was an unofficial one and 2D.
The official VAR line was different to the one the VAR had. In the second half, the official VAR 3D line showed that Inigo Martinez's shoulder was playing Maxi Gomez on. That did not prevent there being plenty of talk on social media over the decision.
