Concern in Argentina over Messi's fitness

Leo Messi will not play in Argentina's next match against Peru on the last day of the group stage of the Copa America due to abductor discomfort. Furthermore, within the 'Albiceleste' there are concerns about his availability for the quarterfinals. 

The Inter Miami player did not train in the first session of the Argentina National Team in Miami, where the match against Peru will take place. This has set off alarm bells in his national team's training camp, as he was not expected to play in this match, but he was expected to be in top form for the qualifiers.

The Argentine star will undergo tests because the affected area is swollen. Moreover, from inside the Argentinean concentration camp, it is said that he is sore and bothered. 

The player himself spoke after the match against Chile, the match in which he suffered the discomfort, and said: "We will see". The Argentinean did not dare to make any assumptions about the extent of his physical problems and was cautious.

Argentina has already qualified for the quarterfinals and, therefore, not having their captain against the Peruvian national team is no drama. However, Messi's presence is key for the knockout round. His opponent will come from group B, where Venezuela have already qualified and Ecuador and Mexico are fighting for the other place.
