Concern at PSG: Messi injured and in doubt for the Champions League

Following their elimination from the French Cup, Paris Saint-Germain received another piece of bad news, just a few days before the first leg against Bayern Munich in the last 16 of the Champions League.

According to 'L'Equipe', Lionel Messi reportedly picked up an injury during Wednesday's 2-1 win over Olympique de Marseille, setting off alarm bells at the Parisian side.

In principle, the Argentine will not be available for this weekend's Ligue 1 clash with Monaco and it is not yet known whether he will be available for the first leg against the Germans in Paris.

PSG's medical staff have not yet issued an official medical report, but they are still not giving up hope: they believe the injury is minor and that the '10' will be fit for the 14th February match against Bayern.

Messi will not be the only major absentee against the Germans, as Kylian Mbappe will not be available to Christophe Galtier for the game.

The French striker will miss the Champions League tie after suffering a tough injury against Toulouse last weekend, a situation that will keep him out of action for at least three weeks.
