Chelsea still want Edson Alvarez

Ajax's Mexican midfielder Edson Alvarez is once again being strongly tipped to strengthen Chelsea's midfield this season. And despite the arrival of Graham Potter at the London club, the desire to bring in this player has not changed. 

In the summer transfer window, the name of the 24-year-old, who came close to joining Stamford Bridge for a fee of just under 50 million euros, was already being strongly mentioned.

The deal was never completed and this affected the Mexican, as journalist Mike Verweij revealed: "Now he just wants to make that transfer to Chelsea. If a club comes along that is willing to pay 50 million euros for you and wants to give you 10 million a year? He wanted to leave. He was pretty broken. 

But all is not lost, as according to the London Evening Standard, as well as journalist Mike Verweij, the Blues could return to the bidding after the World Cup in Qatar for Edson Alvarez, a negotiation that Ajax would like to see in order to look for a replacement to arrive next January.
