Chelsea's pursuit of Dzeko has stalled

Rumours about a possible move for Dzeko to Stamford Bridge have been building as the transfer deadline day draws increasingly closer.

However, negotiations have reportedly stalled between the player and the Premier League champions due to his contract and salary demands.

The Bosnia international has allegedly been asking for a three-and-half-year deal worth around £120,000 per week and his unwillingness to budge on these conditions have caused doubt over the finalisation of the transfer.

Chelsea were prepared to pay £26m for the 31-year-old but may turn their attentions to Arsenal forward Olivier Giroud if Arsene Wenger manages to bring Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the Emirates. 

The 'Gunners' manager has said that the France striker would be free to leave if they sign a new striker this January and Giroud would be a more financially sound choice, as long as Arsenal allow the 31-year-old to join a Premier League rival.

Either way, this looks set to be an interesting transfer saga going into the final two days of the window.
