Chelsea needed to make a move after centre-back Wesley Fofana had to undergo surgery after an ACL injury, putting him out of action for a fair amount of time.
It appears they have landed on Monaco defender Axel Disasi, report 'The Athletic', who would join the squad bringing physicality and confidence on the ball. The 25-year-old scored six goals and made four assists in 50 appearances for his Ligue 1 side last season.
The French international also made three appearances at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, capping off his three seasons with Monaco after a €13 million transfer from Reims in 2020. It is believed he will sign for five years at Chelsea.
It is likely the deal falls around €40 to €45 million and it would mean that this is the second transfer window in a row that the Blues have signed a centre-back from Monaco, following the January arrival of Benoit Badiashile.
