Chelsea could offload Emerson to Lyon

Emerson Palmieri is close to becoming history at Chelsea. The left back could be on his way out of the Blues, as Thomas Tuchel looks to reduce his squad size for the 2021/22 season. The Italian barely featured in a season in which he still managed to become double European champion with Italy and Chelsea, alongside teammate Jorginho.

After three-and-a-half years in London, in which his game time has gone from more to less, the 27-year-old has been linked with a move to French side Lyon, who are reportedly very interested in completing his signing. 

That's what 'The Guardian' have reported, who insist that Tuchel is trying to reduce numbers. It would make sense that he would want to alleviate some weight in that position, too, given the spots already taken by Ben Chilwell and Marcos Alonso.

In the case of Emerson, the Italian only managed 15 matches last season, starting just seven. Nevertheless, he did play the semi-final and final of Euro 2020, in which his country famously went on to glory.
