In icey cold conditions on Saturday afternoon, Sol Campbell earned his first victory in management, as he guided his Macclesfield side to a 2-0 triumph at home to Crawley Town.
The win brings the 'Silkmen' to within four points of safety in League Two.
A maiden league strike for Elliot Durrell and a late header from Harry Smith saw the home side run out nervy winners on the day.
After the opener, a floodlight failures briefly put the remainder of the match in doubt. But after a series of tests, the play resumed, and Campbell's side saw out the result in a gritty second half display.
1,362 fans braved the weather to cheer on the home side, and they were subsequently rewarded, as they saw their team secure three precious points in their battle to avoid the drop.
The 63 visiting fans would have been forgiven for ruing their decision to travel north for the windy encounter. Visitors Crawley enjoyed the best of the action in the second half, but could not assert their dominance on the score line and thus returned home without anything to show for their efforts.
