Bad news for Camavinga's suitors. Those who were rubbing their hands with glee as a result of the lack of an agreement between the Frenchman and Rennes will be disappointed. The youngster wants to renew at the club.
His contract expired in just less than a year and a half. It was, therefore, the ideal moment to fight for him. Rennes had two options: either accept the best offer that comes in or lose him for free at the end of his contract.
But something has changed. That renewal, which seemed destined to fail, is now back on the table. Eduardo Camavinga, when asked about his plans at Rennes, said he wants to sign a new deal.
That is what he has said prior to the match with Marseille in comments reported by 'AS'. "There are negotiations, meetings, we speak continuously about my renewal. It will be done," he said.
"You journalists are the ones who want to see me leave. At the moment, I'm 100% focussed on my team. We'll see later what happens," he added, accusing the press of trying to cause problems in his relationship with Rennes.
Camavinga has been turning down offers for a while as well as trying to pen a new deal at the club. It has coincided with a dip in form.
