Cairney finished off golden pass from Sessegnon to edge Fulham ahead

A place in the Premier League was at stake as Fulham and Aston Villa battled it out at Wembley on Saturday evening.

However, it would be the 'Cottagers' who broke the deadlock, thanks to their captain in the 23rd minute. 

A lofting ball was brought down by Sessegnon who turned effortlessly before splitting open Villa's defence with a pin-point straight through ball.

The pass sat up perfectly for Cairney to strike low, out of reach of opposing goalkeeper Sam Johnstone and into the bottom left corner. 

Given that the winners also win £170million, it could prove to be a very profitable goal for Fulham.
