Sean Dyche's men take on Aberdeen at Pittodrie in the second qualifying round on Thursday night and despite the draw being less glamorous than it could have been, Tarkowski is confident both players and fans are looking forward to the occasion.
"We are only going to Scotland, so we are going to face a lot of British lads," he said.
"But I still think the whole feel of it will be exciting for the fans and for ourselves."
A seventh-place finish in the Premier League secure Burnley a place in Europe for the first time since their Inter-Cities Fairs Cup appearance in 1967.
Meanwhile, Tarkowski also dismissed suggestions that the competition would be a distraction, saying: "We want to go as far as we can.
"It would be daft to go and waste it in the first round of qualifying."
Should Burnley emerge victorious they would then face two more rounds to reach the group stage proper, with Turkish outfit Istanbul Basaksehir up next.
