Newcastle made it nine games without a win as the slipped to a 1-0 home defeat by Brighton on Saturday afternoon.
The first half was full of incident, including a delay of eight minutes after Glenn Murray was taken to hospital following a clash of heads with Federico Fernandez.
Happily for the striker, his side soon had the lead, albeit in controversial circumstances. A corner was given despite replays clearly showing it should have been a goal-kick, and Brighton capitalised.
After a brief episode of pinball in the box, Julen Locadia was on hand to send a deflected effort into the back of the net, and that was all she wrote.
Newcastle utterly dominated the second half, but they were not able to break down the Brighton defence, and that was how the match finished.
