Bong was caught speeding along the A27 in Shoreham, West Sussex on 29 December, and was fined £667 plus costs, and given three points on his licence, which now add to the six points held previous to the offence.
Crawley magistrates court was told that the Cameroonian defender was travelling back from training when he committed the offence, and his lawyer, Mark Haslam, said the player "offers his apologies", as he represented the absent defender during the hearing. Haslam added; "He was travelling back from training in the middle of the day. He was driving too fast - I accept that on his behalf."
Another charge of failing to respond to court summons was subsequently dropped, as it was found that while the Brighton player had indeed provided the relevant documents, the details had not been correctly logged.
Cameroonian Bong joined Brighton and Hove Albion from Wigan Athletic in 2015 and has since made 72 appearances for the 'Seagulls'. Throughout his career he has also played for Greek club Olympiakos, and French side Valenciennes.
