Brendan Rodgers hits back at Bitton critics

Celtic successfully qualified for the Champions League, but they lost 4-3 against Astana on Tuesday and Rodgers defended his midfielder who faced criticism after the game.

"One player I want to mention is Nir Bitton. I think the stuff that has been said about him has been absolutely incredible", Rodgers said.

Rodgers also pointed out that Bitton was playing through the pain barrier for Celtic. "He is still in pain, still sore but this is a guy who shows the spirit of the team and I feel the need to defend him."

Celitc will come up against Bayern Munich, Paris Saint Germain and Anderlecht in a tough Champions League group.
