Megan Rapinoe has won The Best FIFA Women's Player award for the first time in her career, securing the prize ahead of fellow finalists Lucy Bronze and Alex Morgan.
The USA internationalist capped off an incredible year by winning the award at FIFA's showpiece event. Rapinoe captained her side as they won the 2019 Women's World Cup, and scored the opening goal as they beat Netherlands 2-0.
Rapinoe also won the Golden Ball, Golden Boot and was named player of the match in the final. In total, she scored 6 goals at the tournament.
Rapinoe's partner couldn't attend the ceremony, but it will no doubt be a proud day for everyone associated with Rapinoe. She controversially spoke out against Donald Trump and the White House, claiming the current US president is sexist and misogynistic. In her club career, the Reign FC star has won the Division 1, Coupe de la Ligue and the NWSL Shield twice. For USA, she has won the World Cup twice, an Olympic Gold Medal, the Algarve Cup three times, the CONCACAF Women's Championship twice, the SheBeleives Cup and the Tournament of Nations.
She will be hoping to win the Women's Ballon d'Or later this year, and go one better than last year when she made the finalists.
