The Brazil star has only played in one game at the World Cup in Qatar. In the 2-0 win over Serbia, attacker Neymar received a hard tackle on his right ankle that caused him to leave the field with clear signs of pain.
The 'Canarinha' fans feared the worst, as they did at the World Cup on home soil in 2014, when the PSG player clashed with Zuniga. The '10' was sidelined against Switzerland and the national team confirmed that he will not play against Cameroon either.
Tite's side only need a point to finish first and they are not going to take any risks with the winger. This was confirmed by Rodrigo Lasmar, the Canarinha's medical officer in an official statement in which he also spoke about Alex Sandro and Danilo.
"Danilo and Neymar continue the ankle recovery process, each with a different approach because they are different injuries, and this is important to highlight. Neymar had a fever, but it is already under control and does not affect the recovery process," he began.
He then confirmed what everyone expected: "In our daily meeting with the technical committee we informed that these three players will not be available for the match against Cameroon." Thus, both the full-backs and the captain will not be available against the Africans.
