Bove conscious after collapse in Fiorentina-Inter

Terrible scenes at the Artemio Franchi this evening. The Serie A match between Inter Milan and Fiorentina had to be suspended after 17 minutes of play as Edoardo Bove suffured a stroke. The player was tieing his laces after Lautaro Martinez's goal was ruled out as he suddenly collapsed on the floor.

Players from both Inter and Fiorentina immediately understood the gravity of the situation as they surrounded the midfielder to protect him from the cameras as the medics rushed to assist him. Although Bove was later escorted to the hospital, ‘Sky Sport’ report that the ambulance took longer than expected to enter the pitch due to the ongoing works at the stadium. 

According to the same source, Bove was unconscious, though he was able to breath independently. Serie A later announced that the game would not be resumed and will be suspended until further notice while a new date can be found. "The match will not resume and is postponed until a later date.  Bove collapsed to the ground whilst the game was interrupted and the situation immediately appeared very serious. An ambulance took the player away, news is awaited," stated the Italian league.

Players from both sides were visibly shocked and disheartened by the incident and took a while before exiting the pitch. The referee of the match, Daniele Doveri, was left squatting and staring blankly after the player had already been removed from the pitch. "Repubblica" reports that Bove is now conscious and breathing steadily after being taken to Careggi hospital in Florence. Several club officials were present at the medical centre to accompany the 22-year-old.
