Borussia Monchengladbach target Stoke defender

Stoke defender Philipp Wollscheid is Broussia Monchengladbach's priority signing for this summer and the Bundesliga side will monitor form. 

Despite agreeing a three year contract with Stoke, Wollscheid is understood to be open to a return to Germany. 

But, his team-mate Ryan Shawcross wants Wollscheid to stay. He told Stoke Sentinel, "Philipp has had a fantastic season. He's been one of the mainstays of the back four,

"I think his form has been brilliant throughout the season and I don't think you will find a better ball-playing centre half throughout the league. I really rate him.

"I can't really comment on the links, but it's always good to be linked because it means they are doing a good job.

"I'm sure he's got a couple of years left on his contract and long may he stay."
