Borja Iglesias, current Real Betis striker, revealed some internal conflicts that he had to resolve throughout his career and admitted that he had to start therapy to take care of his mental health in the midst of a football slump.
"I went to sleep thinking that I hadn't enjoyed my day. Sometimes it's hard to talk about not being well. What people see is a footballer who earns money and does what he likes," he began, speaking to 'ESPN'.
In the same vein, he acknowledged the importance of taking care of mental health: "Going to therapy with my psychologists Patricia and Maria has given me a way of understanding life that I wasn't allowing myself to see".
"There was a home game against Sevilla, I came on in the last few minutes and I was bad, very bad. I went home quite upset, but Andres Guardado recognised how I was feeling," continued the Betis striker.
Finally, he told how his career began to rise again: "He wrote to me that night saying that I was maturing as a footballer, that everyone trusted me and that I was close to being fine.... Since then I've had two very good seasons".
