Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci said on Wednesday that the goal of the Italian national team, which will face Spain in the second Nations League semi-final on Thursday, goes beyond winning, as he wants to "make Italy have fun".
"Winning is always good, the objective is to win to reach the final. We're playing against a great team like Spain, but by putting into practice what we saw at the European Championship we can bring home an important trophy," he said at the press conference ahead of the clash at the Twente Stadion.
"We are fine, we trained in Sardinia and it was good, we worked and had fun. Then the Inter players joined us in Coverciano (Florence) sad, but ready to start again. They are part of this great group that wants to make Italy have fun," he added.
He also recalled his past clashes with Spain, of which he has "very good and very bad" memories. "Playing against Spain is always tough, because their way of playing with possession makes it difficult for you and makes you suffer, but I think we have made progress towards the Spanish style. We're looking forward to it after not being in the World Cup," he said.
