Bonaventura out with knee problems

It's a heavy loss for Gennaro Gattuso. Coming only minutes before the game with Sampdoria, Bonaventura was deemed unable to play. He watched the game from the stands instead with inflammation in his knee. 

The coach preferred not to risk the Italy internation and instead went with Laxalt in a 4-4-2 formation. Ricardo Rodriguez went in behind. 

To compensate, Franck Kessie will likely be brought in by Gattuso to fill the void left when Biglia moves forward. Higuain and Cutrone got the nod up front. 

The loss of Bonaventura is a difficult one for Milan, having started every league game this season. The only time he didn't feature from the start was against Dudelange in the Europa League.
