Ryan Bertrand celebrated Black History Month in a rather unique way on Sunday; he wore a specially designed pair of boots for Southampton's Premier League clash with Chelsea, which depicted the face of Martin Luther King jr, alongside the civil rights leader's famous words," I have a dream".
King jr is one of the more prominent figures celebrated during Black History Month; a month each year that celebrates the achievements of important people and events of African Diaspora, including but not exclusive to politicians, sporting greats and cultural figures.
The 29 year old former Chelsea player, Bertrand wore the personalised Nike boots as Southampton fell to defeat at home to Chelsea, the boots also had Bertrand's squad number, 21, emblazoned on the heel.
Southampton entered the fixture in 16th place in the Premier League, knowing victory could have taken them up to 12th, yet they were unable to pull themselves away from the relegation zone, slumping to defeat.
In contrast, opponents Chelsea continued their unbeaten start to the Premier League with a convincing victory, thanks to three brilliant goals from Hazard, Barkely and Morata giving the 'Blues' a 3-0 result away from home.
