Ben Yedder, who was arrested last year for another rape allegation in ongoing proceedings, was arrested in the early hours of Saturday morning for alleged sexual assault.
He allegedly tried to abuse the complainant, whom he had met that night, in his car. The newspaper adds that the footballer also allegedly disobeyed police orders to stop his car, and when he was finally arrested he was under the influence of alcohol.
After a court appearance, he was released under police control despite the opposition of the prosecution, which will appeal the decision, according to the report. Ben Yedder, 34, is summoned to appear on 15 October in a speedy trial for drunken sexual assault.
In July last year, the player and his brother were arrested following a complaint by two young women, and Wissam Ben Yedder was subsequently charged with rape and sexual assault, a judicial procedure that is still ongoing. The footballer has always denied these allegations.
