Despite president Bartomeu assuring that Griezmann's name was not on Barça's table, Jordi Mestre has today made some declarations that would suggest quite the opposite.
The vice president of the Catalan giants has insinuated that Barcelona have not given up on their hopes of landing the Frenchman's signature, after he decided to turn down a move to the Camp Nou in order to stay at Atlético last summer.
"This is the most important question. We have always said that we want to be discreet about any future recruitment. For now, it's not the moment to speak about it. In the right moment, the management will speak with the coach", he said in an interview with 'Cadena Sur'.
"His quality is undisputable, there's no doubt about it. Then you need to analyse if his signing would interest us and what we can afford", he added.
Moreover, Jordi Mestre suggested that he doesn't believe paying Griezmann's release cause, which sits at 120 million euros, would be a problem for Barcelona.
"We already found the money. We have an artist of numbers in CEO Oscar Grau who we can trust", he stated.
