Barcelona's Ter Stegen set to MISS rest of the season after rupturing patellar tendon

A sad day at Barcelona, and it's not exactly because they have no reason to smile. The ‘Cules’, after claiming a convincing win over Villarreal, are La Liga leaders, with a perfect record of victories and a performance that is making the fans fall in love with their team.

However, the negative part comes after learning of the serious injury to Ter Stegen, who had to leave the field in the added time of the first half after injuring his knee in a fall. Well, according to ‘AS’, the first scans have estimated that the German goalkeeper has a ruptured patellar tendon in his right leg and will have to undergo surgery.

The period of absence will be between 7 and 8 months, meaning that the goalkeeper will be out for the rest of the season. A tough blow for the dressing room, which not only loses yet another player, a sure thing in goal, but also the first captain and leading voice of the squad is injured.

In the best-case scenario, and in line with the best predictions, Ter Stegen would not return to the team until April or May, in the final stretch of the championships. A new problem, both sporting and institutional, in terms of a possible replacement.
